Yellow Brick War

I started reading the third book in the Dorothy Must Dies series, Yellow Brick War. This amazing series written by Danielle Paige and it puts a twist on the classic story Wizard of Oz. I’m not sure if Yellow Brick War is the final book of the series, but from where I am at right now it seems like it might be. This book is different than the other two because Amy is in Kansas instead of Oz for a little while. It is really nice to see how the Kansas changed while she was away and I’m excited to see if she stays an Oz or Kansas. I am really interested to see what happens to Dorothy at the end of this series. If you haven’t read these books yet and you like stories like this, then I think that you should check them out! There are also two books of short prequel stories that explain how things in Oz got to be the way they are.

Yesterday I started reading Fairest by Marissa Meyer. Fairest is the back story of Levana, the evil lunar queen from the Lunar Chronicles. I am enjoying this book so much that I am almost finished with it. I think it is very interesting to see how Levana got to be how is evil she is. I do feel a little sad for Levana because of how sad her childhood was. I really like the way that Meyer explains how things from the Lunar Chronicles are possible. If you have read the Lunar Chronicles and not Fairest, I think you would really enjoy it. If you have not read the Lunar Chronicles or Fairest I think you should because they are all very good!

The Shining and Doctor Sleep

I just finished reading The Shining by Stephen King and I really enjoyed it. The whole time I was reading it I just keeping thinking about how it was nothing like the Jack Nicolson movie. I think that the tv movie version was a lot closer to the book.
I just starting reading Doctor Sleep today, which is also by Stephen King. I am really enjoying it so far. It is really interesting to see Danny as a drunk even though he saw what it did to his father. I hope that as I get further in the that Danny gets things worked out, mostly because its hard for me to stop thinking of him as the scared little boy from The Shining.

Lady Midnight

I have recently started reading Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare. This book is the first book in Clare’s new series The Dark Artifices. If you have not read The Mortal Instruments series you could still try and read this book. I personally think you should read the Mortal Instruments first because the characters in Lady Midnight were introduced in the last book. I also think you should read the Mortal Instruments series because it is a very good series. I am excited to read this book because I am interested on how the characters from the other series will be relevant in this series, if they even are. I am also excited because I really enjoy reading Cassandra Clare’s books. I think that it will be interesting to see the shadowhunter world from the point of views of new characters. Lady Midnight is very good so far and I am excited to finish it. I believe there will be at least two more books in the Dark Artifices series and I am excited.

Pet Sematary

I have recently started reading Pet Sematary by Stephen King. Stephen King is my favorite author so I love reading his books any chance I get. Pet Sematary is about a family that moves to a new house in Maine where they find the pet cemetery and an indian burial ground. As certain things happen in the book the father finds out what happens when you bury something in an indian burial ground. I am excited to read this book because I have watched the movie a million times and I am to see how the book is better.

Today I bought Splintered by A.G Howard. This book is kind of a darker version of Alice In Wonderland. I am excited to start this book because I enjoy reading different versions of fairytales. Splintered is the first book in a series so I think it will be very interesting. I found out about this book by looking at the tab “if you like the The Lunar Chronicles” so if you liked those, you might like it!

The Gunslinger/ End of Watch

It has been awhile since my last post so this one will be about two Stephen King books! The first book is the Gunslinger, which is the first book in the Dark Tower series. I recently finished the Gunslinger and I enjoyed it more than I though I would. Stephen King is my favorite author but I never planned on reading the Dark Tower series because I didn’t know much about them. About a month ago I found out that they were making a Dark Tower movie so I decided to read the series. The Gunslinger might start off a little confusing, but once you start it you can’t stop, just like the Gunslinger can’t stop chasing the man in black. I am very excited to start the second book, The Drawing of Three, when I get it.
The second book is End of Watch. End of Watch just came out this month and I was very happy to get it the week it came out. This book is the final book in the Mr. Mercedes trilogy. I have been waiting a little over a year for this book and so far I am really enjoying it. I don’t want to give to much away because I don’t want to spoil the other two books, but it is a book you won’t want to put down. I really enjoy how all the books are tied together and I am excited to see how the series ends. I think one of my favorite things is that each books starts with a story from someone the day of the Mr. Mercedes killings. I would say that Holly is my favorite character in this series because I can relate to her. I would recommend this book to anyone who read Mr.Mercedes and Finders Keepers and if you haven’t read them I think you should!

The Last Star

Today was a very exciting day because The Last Star came out! The Last Star is the third and final book in The Fifth Wave series. I have been waiting for it for awhile now so of course I bought it the day it came out. I am very excited to start reading it because I loved the first two books. I think that Rick Yancey is a very talented author who always has great plot twists. Unfortunately I spoiled one of the twist in this book by reading the last page first, but I will not spoil it for anyone else. I hope it is as good as The Infinite Sea because so far that is my favorite in the series. I am very excited to see what happens and where all of the characters will be in the end!

I am a person who reads multiple books at a time, so not only am I reading The Dead Zone I am also reading Winter. Winter is the fourth book in the Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer. This series is very interesting because each book is about a different fairytale, but with a twist. Winter is the final book in the series and I am excited to see how it ends. I am half way through the book and it just gets better and better. This is by far one of my favorite series and I think everyone should read it.
